Having worked for so long with obese adults who have confused and conflicted relationships with food, it is apparent that we need to get in early. Old habits die very hard indeed. Children need to be given the skills to manage their world of abundant, energy-dense foods so, by the time they are adults, healthy eating is a way of life for them.

This generation of young children is the first in the history of humankind that will have a shorter life expectancy than the one before. We owe it to them to work harder on this problem.
